Mycoprotein is an alternative, nutritious protein source to meat that comes from naturally occurring fungus.  It has a low environmental impact and is part of the solution needed to address the issue of today’s generation.  It has a carbon footprint considered to be at least fifty-five times lower than beef.  Why should you take mycoprotein or Quorn? It is a meat alternative targeted at those that follow a vegetarian and/or vegan diet as it is animal or meat free.  Some of the Quorn products can contain egg so wouldn’t be suitable for a vegan diet but therefore would suit a vegetarian diet. Some Quorn products are vegan too and don’t contain any animal ingredients.  Did you know that Quorn chicken is a good source of protein and fibre that can help with structure and gut health of our bodies.  It is low in saturated fat too which can keep the risk of heart disease down too.  It is also a good source of potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and manganese.  These help with movement, energy, sleep, teeth, immune system and bones.  Quorn chicken is also a good source of vitamin B5, B9 and B12 that help with adrenaline, red blood cells, brain function and our DNA blueprint.  We all want to eat better and help the environment if we can.  Quorn is nutritious and sustainable and is possibly the future of food in a carbon footprint context.  If you follow an omnivore diet and eat too much red meat, why not swap some of this with Quorn which have their own mince range too.
