Egg labelling can be confusing and sometimes its hard to know what the difference is, and which type of egg is the most ethical.  Firstly, lets talk about organic.  This is to do with having fewer birds in a flock vs. free range and intensive caged systems.  This means it’s easier to take care of organic chickens.  Organic chickens are kept to the highest standards of welfare and have much larger outdoor areas to roam.  More than free range and intensive caged systems.  Also with regards to organic, there is no feeding allowed with genetically modified (GM) crops.  The use of GM feeding is commonplace in free range and other caged systems.  Because organic chickens have a much larger outdoor area to roam, they get to eat a more diverse variety of plants, grubs and insects which adds variety to their diet.  This will keep them healthy and improve the nutritional value of the egg vs. free range and/or caged.  Also, the use of antibiotics to keep chickens from becoming sick is banned via organic systems.  Organic eggs contain good levels of protein, healthy cholesterol, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc, selenium, iodine, vitamins A, D, B2, B3, B5, B7, B9 and B12.  Organic eggs are way dearer vs. free range and/or caged system eggs but the versatility of nutrition is well worth the extra monies and your health.
